About 3DSLab
"3DSLAB is a Sydney-based engineering and digital fabrication studio. Work spans 3D scanning and CAD reconstruction — including full yacht hull digitization — through to additive manufacturing and prototype development, with a particular focus on marine applications."

3DSLAB is run by a naval architect with six years' industry experience, alongside an independent naval architecture consultancy. That background shapes how projects are approached — geometry capture and CAD work are grounded in structural and hydrodynamic understanding, not just surface reproduction.
Engineering-Led Approach
"We start every project by defining the constraints that actually govern the part — material behaviour, tolerances, and how the manufacturing process itself affects the result. That can mean simulating fill and flow behaviour before committing to a design, or validating scanned geometry against a CAD surface model before downstream work begins. The same discipline — model, simulate, verify — carries across our CAD, scanning and additive manufacturing projects."

Marine Digitalisation
"3DSLAB helps vessel owners, operators and project teams create useful digital records of existing marine assets through 3D scanning and CAD reconstruction.
Where original drawings or models are incomplete or unavailable, vessels and components can be captured internally and externally to document hull geometry, decks, compartments, machinery spaces and structural arrangements.
The resulting digital information can support refits, modifications, replacement-part reconstruction, spatial coordination and future engineering work."
